Internship Summary
Robert B. Our Company (“RBO”) is committed to providing an immersive and dynamic summer internship experience in finance. The intern will assist the Finance Team with day-to-day activities in support of various accounting, analysis and strategic initiatives supporting the company’s commercial and marine site utility construction. This internship provides hands-on exposure to cross departmental collaboration and touches all aspects of the 4 operating entities of RBO.
Key Responsibilities
- Working in close collaboration/mentorship with Assistant Director of Finance, assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of key finance files and initiatives.
- Participate in the daily activities of the Finance Department.
- Participate in weekly meetings regarding operational and strategic initiatives for the scale, pit and yard operations. Initiatives will include the pursuit of new scientific and innovative grants supporting local community and environmental efforts and an operational shift in the products produced and the processes taking place in the yard, focusing on sustainability and premium soils.
- Assist with researching carbon accounting and sustainability considerations supporting scientific and innovative grant pursuits.
- Assist with documenting policies and training materials regarding various finance activities and maintenance of key files and workflows.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly finance team meetings.
- Review Excel files for greater automation, utilization of pivot tables and leverage of AI where applicable.
- Maintain accurate and organized records for efficient and effective data retrieval and retention.
Learning Opportunities
- Exposure to general accounting and finance concepts with commercial construction projects, including the interrelated concepts of cost accounting, revenue recognition and cash flow considerations for work in progress.
- Gain practical experience in financial forecasting and budgeting for new initiatives and updating and creating financial modeling.
- Gain practical experience in capital planning and various financial and funding options.
- Gain exposure to basic Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) and Cost Account Management (“CAM”).
- Develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced construction environment.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in general business administration, accounting, finance or similar fields.
- Demonstrated and genuine interest in the construction industry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn new software programs.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Strong communication skills and excellent listening skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task in a faced-paced environment, ability to establish priorities in a changing work environment and ability to successfully meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- The internship requires the successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug test.
Work Environment
- In-office settings with a mix of individual and team projects and assignments.
- Exposure to garage and parts rooms and inventory operations involving mechanical parts, supplies and equipment.

Internship Duration and Salary
- Summer 2026
- Full-time beginning on/around June 1 through approximately mid-August (depending on candidate availability)
- Wage: $23.00/hour
